Our passion to help churches reach children and their families for Christ—equipping leaders with training, tools, and encouragement so they can make a lasting impact.
BTI began in 1971 as a simple four-page, typewritten Bus Ministry newsletter edited by Wick Brandon.
In 1972, S. Ray Sadler transformed it into a full magazine. Sadly, Ray passed away in a small plane crash after returning from a conference. His brother, Joe R. Sadler, continued the work until 1975, when he sold the magazine to Larry Hipps.
Since then, Dr. Larry Hipps has led BTI for over five decades—expanding from publications to nationwide training seminars, conferences, and a full range of children’s ministry resources.
BTI has trained thousands of workers in hundreds of churches across the U.S. and three foreign countries. We offer practical, experience-backed training in:

Larry has served in both large and small churches and understands the unique challenges each faces—especially when it comes to reaching kids and families. Seeing smaller churches struggle inspired him to create the Small Church Kids Ministry Seminar.
